Race update: Luke vs Alpine challenge 160km trail run
Just like many of us, Luke had been talking about his will to compete in a 100miles (160km) trail run since a while. Until end 2015 when he took the decision to finally commit, he had set his focus on the Alpine Challenge (http://www.runningwild.net.au), an unmarked trail run that demands navigation. I was very happy when he asked for my help to lead him there, Luke is only 20 years old and already an Endurance machine!
Luke finished 6th overall in 27hr30.
His post race comments:
"Felt really strong in the climbs which is where I always made up most of my time on my competitors which was surprising. I had a very smart race and didn't make any Nav mistakes. Started conserved at the start sitting around 20 something in the 100milers and only got stronger during the day and tried to stay consistent throughout the night. Eventually I picked through the field and finished 6th overall. I passed a lot of people but I never got passed throughout the race which I was really happy with"
Congratulations Luke! Great achievement and great result!
